Welcome to Hoole Racing’s website!

“Hoole Racing” was formed in 1982 and followed Sid Hoole’s purchase and ensuing restorations of his own historic Cooper Monaco sports and several single seater Coopers that he raced throughout the 70s, in particular enjoying the race series sponsored by Lloyds & Scottish during this era.  He continues to be a regular competitor in historic motor sport and has not missed a season since his first race back in 1972.

As Sid’s cars became known and recognised he was approached by owners of similar vehicles who asked him to restore their cars to his particular high standards and the rest, as they say, is history!

At this time, a fully qualified electrical engineer, Sid was also running his own fish & chip shops which did not leave him a great deal of free time to work on these restorations, it was also proving impossible to continue with the limited space available in the garage at his home. Premises were acquired at the nearby airfield at Little Staughton which had served as an RAF base from which Lancaster aircraft flew during the 2nd world war.  More restoration work followed, the chip shops were closed, staff were employed and Hoole Racing was born!!

By mid 1988 the business had outgrown the Little Staughton premises so new industrial premises (coincidentally built on a former USAF airbase at Kimbolton) were viewed, purchased and eventually Hoole Racing moved in on 8th October 1988.  For the first few months the space afforded (by number 1 Nene Road) was more than adequate and comfortably accommodated the cars and equipment as well as two offices on a mezzanine above the front end of the workshop.  However the business continued to grow and the addition of a machine-shop was built which almost doubled the size of the premises and enabled in-house machining, absolutely essential to maintaining historic racing cars.

The business has continued to grow and the premises have now more than doubled in size and now occupy numbers 1 & 2 Nene Road,  experienced staff care for a wide variety of Formula and sports racing cars that range from the mid 1950s up to early 1980s offering clients both full restoration, race preparation and circuit support facilities.
